home Home, Home on the Ranch

Husband Bob and I bought our 21 acre ranch, just north of Cottage Grove Oregon, in 2002.  McAvoy Meadow Ranch as we named it, is a blend of open pasture and woods of oak, fir, dogwood and maple.  Star with goatsOur cozy house and small barn sits on top of the gentle slope of the land. The Shetland ewes spend their days pasturing and their nights up at the secure barn area which includes a rocky shade treed hillock. The rams have their own pasture with a nice grove of mature trees to laze under while chewing their cud. Such a peaceful scene.

A scene shared by a couple of llamas, the requisite ranch flock of chickens, a manx kitty, and a pair of geese (Shetland Geese, of course!) All this livestock is herded by our Queensland Healer, Addie, and protected by Ross, our Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees guardian dog.
